Photo Essay and Panorama on Buddhist Maha Vihara.

Bodhi Tree

Bodhi tree

"If for company
you cannot find a wise and
prudent friend
who leads a good life,
like a king who
leaves behind
a conquered kingdom,
or like
a lone elephant
in the elephant forest,
you should go your way alone."
Dhammapada 329

This Bodhi tree was planted on October 24, 1982 by Venerable Dr. K. Sri. Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera. The sapling was from the 2000 years old Bodhi tree -- the Sri Maha Bodhi of Anuradhapura of Sri Lanka. The Bodhi tree sapling was ferried to Brickfields Buddhist Maha Vihara by Ven. K. Wimalajothi Thera. On the right of the photo is the outdoor Samadhi Buddha Statue -- statue of a meditating Buddha in deep concentration.
